Bardonecchia<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Bardonecchia is a famous winter and summer resort at 1300m altitude, in the upper Susa Valley, on the French border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bardonecchia represents one of the historical moments of the Italian skiing: at the beginning of the XX century, two Norwegian brothers \u2013 Harald and Trigwe Smith \u2013 jumped from the ski-jumping ramp in a place which has taken their name then:  Campo Smith.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In 1939 the first lift system was built: the sledge-lift of Colomion. From that moment on the lift facilities have developed and in 2006 Bardonecchia held the XX Winter Olympic snowboard races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays it has 100km runs, 23 lift facilities, a snow park and the Olympic half pipe, cross country skiing tracks and several ski schools.  Its slopes are divided into two areas: Colomion-Les Arnauds-Melezet and the Jafferau.  The great amount of snow-making equipment guarantees a perfect base throughout the season.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Those who wish to practice snow shoeing, ice skating, tennis, horse riding, swimming and indoor gym, will find lots of sports facilities in Bardonecchia. Moreover, the lively town has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, a cinema and the Palazzo Delle Feste, a theater which hosts cultural exhibitions and and performances. Nightlife in Bardonecchia is lively as well, with its pubs, discos, wine bars and chalets on the slopes for dinners on the snow.  Finally, handicrafts and mountain food are still kept alive here, thanks to its typical restaurants and crafts shops<\/p>\n\n\n\n
